Matt Zame
New Tender Project DirectorMatt Zame was one of Brian Perry Civil’s first summer interns, joining the business in 1997. After completing his studies, he returned as a graduate engineer and has since spent more than 25 years helping deliver some of New Zealand’s most iconic infrastructure projects.
Looking back, Matt credits those early opportunities with laying the foundation for his career.
“I had incredible opportunities to learn on seismic strengthening projects at Karapiro Dam, the Auckland Harbour Bridge and the Newmarket Viaduct, before moving to Northport Phase 1, Fletcher’s first deep-water port project. These were complex, pioneering projects that introduced Fletcher to new sectors and technologies.”
Today, Matt is New Tender Project Director for Major Projects, responsible for helping expand Fletcher Construction’s portfolio and supporting sustainable business growth.
He believes his career highlights the breadth of opportunities available across the Fletcher Construction Group.
“As a young graduate, I could never have imagined the career ahead of me, but those early years gave me a strong foundation. I learned how to tackle challenges through sound engineering, careful planning and great teamwork.
“I’ve been given so many opportunities throughout my career. While there have been sacrifices, including moving around the country a few times, the investment Fletcher has made in my development, particularly as a leader, has made it all worthwhile.”
