Geotechnical EngineerTaniela Napa’a’s career with Brian Perry Civil demonstrates that learning never stops and, with the right support, opportunities are endless.
He joined BPC as a Graduate Engineer before progressing to Site Engineer in the Foundations team, where he gained valuable hands-on experience solving real-world challenges.
“Site engineering is very practical. It taught me resilience and how to find solutions when things don’t go to plan,” he says.
While working on the Te Maunga Wastewater Treatment Plant in Tauranga, Taniela embraced the opportunity to move into geotechnical engineering, combining technical consultancy with site-based work.
“I received plenty of training and support to make the transition. Having a great mentor who guided me through new challenges made all the difference.”
Today, as a Geotechnical Engineer, Taniela is involved in projects across the business, including the Eastern Busway, where he is working with Thermal Integrity Profiling technology for pile testing.
“Every day brings different challenges, and I love the collaboration and support within the team. There’s a real sense of achievement when a project comes together.”
Taniela believes BPC’s diverse range of work provides unique opportunities to learn, grow and build a rewarding career.
