Richard San Andres’ career in health and safety has taken him across the world with Fletcher Construction. A Filipino national with international experience, Richard joined Fletcher Morobe in Papua New Guinea in 2022 as an EHS Advisor, supporting the NADZAB Airport Redevelopment Project and other projects in Lae Province.

During a training visit to Fletcher Construction’s Auckland head office in 2023, Richard toured several projects, including the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC). The experience left a lasting impression.

Later that year, he joined the NZICC project as an EHS Advisor, making the move from Papua New Guinea to New Zealand.

“Adapting to a different climate, culture and work environment was challenging at times,” says Richard. “But it has also been incredibly rewarding. The opportunities to learn and grow have made every challenge worthwhile.”

Following the completion of the NZICC project in 2024, Richard joined Higgins to continue his Fletcher Construction journey.
