For Miles Wallace, second time’s been a charm. He first joined Fletcher Construction as a Project Engineer with Brian Perry Civil before leaving in 2021 to work for a structural engineering consultancy. In 2023, he returned to the business as a Design Engineer with Engineering Services and hasn't looked back.

Now a Senior Design Engineer, Miles develops innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions that support project teams across the business. He has contributed to a wide range of projects, including Seaview Wharf and Bothamley Park, where he helped deliver complex enabling works such as drilling fluid retention frames, cofferdams and specialised lifting solutions.

Miles manages the full design process, coordinating with engineers, suppliers and project teams while mentoring junior design engineers and draughtspersons.

“The experience has been incredible,” he says. “I get to work closely with project teams from the early stages and help solve everything from simple challenges to highly complex engineering problems. There’s a real sense of satisfaction in seeing a design successfully overcome an issue on site.”

Miles is also passionate about the role digital engineering plays in improving project outcomes.
